Sherlock makers comment on the possibility of a fifth season

It’s been five years since then SherlockThe BBC’s fourth season is over, and fans wondered if Benedict Cumberbatch would step in once again as a “high-performance social detective.” Last year, Cumberbatch said “never say never” when it came to Sherlock Returning, but the actor doesn’t seem to have much hope of playing the iconic character again. This week, talk to show creators Stephen Moffat and Mark Gates Radio Times They were asked about a possible fifth season. While a return to 221B Baker Street doesn’t seem to be in sight, the creators will be glad to return.

“I would Sherlock Again tomorrow, why do you ask me? Moffat said sarcastically. Mark will do it tomorrow, Su [Vertue, producer] You will do it tomorrow – we will do it again. And he added, ‘It’s up to Benedict and Martin [Freeman] …They were very loyal to this show over a very long period when he was abroad, when it certainly became the lowest paying job.”

“And I don’t think that’s necessarily what they want to do now—fair enough, perfectly fair enough. But if anyone thinks I’m the one getting in the way, I’ll tell you with confidence that I’ll start writing it tomorrow, if everyone else does.”

Moffat also brought up the death of Una Stubbs (Mrs. Hudson) and how hard it would be to achieve more Sherlock without it. “Maybe if we reassemble this group and it doesn’t magically show up, we could all be too sad to make a show,” he said.

“These are the facts. We’ll do it, I’ll do it, Mark will do it, Sue will do it. We may be too sad to get over it. And we’ll need our leading men, and it is perfectly understandable that they may feel they have taken their time.”

Of course, if everything depends on Cumberbatch and Freeman, then the two stars are currently very busy with Marvel. Cumberbatch plays the titular role in Doctor Strange in a multiverse of madnessWhich will be shown in theaters next month. Freeman will then appear in Black Panther: Wakanda Foreverreprising his role as Everett Ross.

While Cumberbatch and Freeman may finish the world of Sherlock, another star is leaving Marvel behind to return to Sherlock. Robert Downey Jr., Marvel’s Iron Man, played Sherlock in 2009 and 2011, and it has long been rumored that he would return for the role. Now that his Marvel character is dead, it’s finally time for Sherlock to return. In fact, it was just announced that Downey Jr is collaborating with HBO Max on two streaming series in Sherlock Holmes being.
